World Sepsis Day Sept 13

On Wednesday 13 September, over 7000 facilities and organisations worldwide will stand together to raise awareness about sepsis.

Organised by the Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA), World Sepsis Day began in 2012 and is held every year on 13 September. It’s an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against sepsis. Find out more about the GSA and World Sepsis Day.

Get Involved

There are lots of ways you can show your support and help raise awareness this World Sepsis Day. Whether that’s hosting an event, posting on social media, signing the World Sepsis Declaration or buying a t-shirt.

Event

Organising an event like a BBQ, quiz night, morning tea or picnic with your family, friends and colleagues, is a great way to raise awareness and funds for World Sepsis Day.

Here are a few tips to help get you started with your event:

Choose your event. Your event can be anything you like – a morning tea in the office, a pub quiz with your mates or even a gala dinner! You can find inspiration for your event on the World Sepsis Day website and on our Sepsis Australia Facebook page.

Spread the word. Click here to download materials from the World Sepsis Day toolkits, including an editable poster to publicise your event, sepsis information fact sheets, a Power Point presentation template, videos and even a quiz about sepsis.

Want some merchandise for your event? Visit the World Sepsis Day shop to buy balloons, pens, bags and more.

Tell us all about it. If you’re hosting an event, we want to hear about it! Remember to take lots of photos and videos at the event, then send them to us at [email protected] so we can say a big thank you for all your hard work this World Sepsis Day.

Sharing your event on social media? Check out the section below for information and resources that might help.

If you don’t have the capacity to host your own event right now, find a sepsis community advocacy group in your state and see if they’re hosting an event near you. For information on sepsis support groups, click here and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Social media

Another way to show your support this World Sepsis Day is by sharing information on your social media accounts and to your networks via email. In the World Sepsis Day toolkit you’ll find infographics, videos and photo boards to help you raise awareness.

Visit our Faces of Sepsis page to share real stories about the devastating impact of sepsis and meet some champions of survival.
